Out Biblical Calling Matthew
5:16
Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
Romans 8:19
The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed.
The whole creation calls Christians to the full awareness of what it means to be sons and daughters of the living God (paraphrase)
In this and other verses of the Bible we see the description of the God's commission entrusted to us. In a nutshell it is as follows:
«By your faith and good works be witnesses of God's love to the world».
By this we mean that God is constantly showing love for His creation, and we are called to be witnesses of His love by doing good works and sharing the fullness of the love that we have received. Thus by serving in socially disturbed and unstable areas of the world we point people to God, the Creator of the Universe.
On the basis of the Scripture we have chosen this to be our motto:
We Stir Hearts to Action.
Our desire is to be Merciful —
God's love is freely given to all people.
Dependable — Our deeds must match our words.
Independent — Independent, but interconnected.
Open for Partnership — Our actions must spring from a desire to serve others.
All of our communication efforts must reflect at least one of these values.
Mercy —
God's love is freely given to all people.
Therefore
- We cannot forget about the weak and needy whatever their reputation, nationality or faith.
- Our attitude to people does not depend on the reputation and achievements of a person or his/her home country; we see each person as a beloved masterpiece of God's creation.
- Our projects most foster acceptance, empowerment and fulfillment of people in their uniqueness. By offering them our help, which facilitates self-help and personal initiative, we encourage independence and self-reliance. We do not make people dependent on our help and support but want to foster a self-reliant and proactive attitude.
- We don't expect any gratitude because we also live only on what has been freely given to us.
Dependability —
Our deeds must match our words.
Here is how we put it into practice:
We communicate openly and honestly. We do not promise more than we can do.
We place great importance on professional excellence of our workers, who are trained for their tasks. When seeking out people for special projects, we stress the necessary professional qualifications
.
We hold to the Christian doctrines, strive to the highest level of social competence and responsibility in all our actions.
We support our staff through modern methods and technologies, adapting them to local conditions, customs and requirements of the local culture.
Independence —
Independent, but interconnected.
Agape is financed primarily though offerings and donations given to «Campus for Christ», Switzerland. We network with many friends and sponsors and maintain regular and consistent accountability.
As far as it is possible, Agape works independently of political, religious or economic situations or conditions. 87–90% of all donations made out to Agape get used in accordance with the purpose, specified for these donations.
Openness for Partnership —
Our actions must spring from a desire to serve others.
Agape International views its work as creative continuation of God's creative work. Agape is open to working with other cultures, other religions, other traditions. Agape's methods of work are based on the desire to serve people, stirring them to action. We support people through prayer, know-how, experience, finances and ideas. All the while we are learning a lot too and receive as much as we give.
We seek to build bridges of trust. We do not pursue political or economic goals. We want our work to the a witness of God's love for Man.
